Chidozie Nwangwu, a famous Anambra State-born local doctor who was kidnapped last Sunday and rescued early Saturday morning, has detailed his trauma at the hands of his kidnappers.
Nwangwu, also known as Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki, told friends and well-wishers about his encounter, saying, “Let me tell you all what happened.” While I was in the kidnappers’ cave, I was listening to the radio and noticed how people were saying nonsense, so I decided to set the record straight.
“What really happened was that I was there (at home) that day, around 11:30, when someone named Okey Japan called me and said they were at my hotel, that they were spending money, that they had spent close to N300,000, and that they would have liked to have me around.”
“I complied and drove myself to the hotel in my new car.” Nobody accompanied me. I was present, and within 30 minutes, a gunshot rented the air. People began to run erratically. When I stepped outside to check what was going on, they began firing at me.
“They assassinated two of my security guards.” I don’t want to say too much right now, but I know that only two things can save a man. If your charms fail to save you, your money will.
“Anyone with charms should be wealthy.” As a result, the people took me into their automobile. If I had wanted to flee, I would have done so, but I had seen others who had been shot, and I warned them that if I left, they would kill many more. Many people were lying down, and if I had tried to flee, they would have killed many of them.

“The story would have also been that the whole thing began when I arrived, implying that I was the one who brought in kidnappers.” I chose to follow them in order to demonstrate that my hands were clean. What I accomplished saved many souls. If you believe they took me because I ate other people’s money, think again. If I consume your money, come to me because I have money to give you.
“People may be ecstatic that it happened to me, but let me assure you that if the death that killed the rich meets the poor, it will crush him.”
“This whole thing is connected to these stay-at-home people, and they mentioned names of more people they will take, but I can’t say anything right now.” Many people were slaughtered in front of me. They had already slain up to 20 individuals before me. I did not take anyone’s money; they simply came to abduct, and their aim is wealthy individuals. They wanted to kidnap up to 50 individuals from my hotel that day, but I chose to follow them,” the witch doctor explained.
Many claimed that his kidnapping was motivated by his clientele’s disappointment that his money-making ritual did not work for them, prompting them to seek a means to contact him and reclaim their money.
