Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, wrote to Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie on 22 October 2026, requesting assistance in overcoming repeated difficulties securing meetings with the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
Letter to the minister
Aggrey said the inability to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions has delayed official activities, stakeholder engagements and the execution of responsibilities related to domestic tourism, special events and marketing.
He noted that attempts to arrange appointments through the CEO’s secretary or personal assistant were often met with notices that the official was unavailable, despite acknowledging the CEO’s demanding schedule.
“My intention is not to make a personal complaint, but to highlight a communication gap that needs to be addressed in the interest of effective management and institutional efficiency,” Aggrey wrote.
The deputy CEO asked the minister, with the GTA Board Chairperson informed, to establish a more effective channel for consultations between his office and the CEO, particularly for urgent matters.
Aggrey reaffirmed his commitment to work professionally with the CEO and the GTA management team to advance the ministry’s objectives and improve the Authority’s performance.
The ministry has not yet responded to the request.
