A high‑powered delegation led by Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Ghana Education Service Director‑General is scheduled to visit Obuasi Senior High Technical School as authorities move to reopen the institution for continuing students.
The school was closed nearly three months ago after violent student protests erupted over allegations of sexual misconduct involving headmaster Zakaria Abdulai. The accusations, made by 19 female students, were brought to public attention through an investigative documentary titled “Inside the Dreaded Headmaster’s Bungalow” by JoyNews journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni.
Background
The protests disrupted academic activities and raised concerns about student safety and welfare. Following the allegations, headmaster Abdulai was suspended while investigations continued.
Authorities say the upcoming delegation will assess conditions at the school and coordinate steps needed to resume classes for students who remained enrolled.
No further details on the delegation’s itinerary have been released.
