Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Essikado‑Ketan constituency, Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, issued a press statement on Monday, 12 October 2026, confirming that he will wait for the party’s directive before launching his campaign.
Bissue’s compliance with NPP directive
He said his decision reflects his long‑standing membership in the NPP and his involvement in shaping the party’s rules, emphasizing the need to lead by example.
“Many Party Members in Essikado‑Ketan have invited me to commence my campaign. My consistent response has been to await the end of the internal elections,” Bissue said.
Bissue also urged supporters and party members to refrain from posting or circulating campaign material until the party authorises activities.
Call for unity amid internal contest
He warned that insults and character attacks circulating on WhatsApp could undermine party cohesion.
“I do not believe in the politics of insults; it does not augur well for our Party. I urge all my supporters to desist immediately. Let us compete on ideas, not insults,” he added.
He reminded members that, despite being political opponents in the internal contest, they remain part of the same political family and that discipline and unity are essential for the NPP’s goal of winning the 2028 general elections.
The statement follows a recent directive from NPP headquarters ordering all prospective parliamentary aspirants and their supporters to suspend campaigning.
Bissue’s campaign remains on hold pending further guidance from the party.
