The University of Ghana has announced the postponement of its reopening for the 2026/2027 academic year, which was previously scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026.
In an official notice issued by the university administration and signed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Gordon A. Awandare, management informed the student community that a revised academic schedule will be issued in due course.
"The Management of the University of Ghana wishes to inform all students that the reopening of the University for the 2026/2027 academic year, initially scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026, has been postponed," the official notice stated.
The postponement follows ongoing industrial action by senior staff and university administrator groups across public universities in Ghana, which has affected administrative services and preparation for student arrivals on campus.
University authorities advised all continuing students, incoming freshers, and parents to monitor official university channels for the announcement of the revised reporting date and academic calendar.
