Bandits demand N4 million in exchange for the release of abducted NYSC members

Gunmen suspected of being bandits kidnapped over eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and demanded a ransom of four million Naira to ensure their release.

Terrorists were said to have kidnapped the eight Corps members last Friday along a highway in Zamfara State.

The young people were alleged to be traveling on an Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State’s capital, to Sokoto State to participate in the required National Service when the bandits struck and abducted them.

Emmanuel Eket, the father of one of the kidnapped victims, stated over the phone that his daughter, Glory Thomas, had been keeping them up to date on the latest developments in the robbers’ camps.

He claimed that the bandits called him with her phone number to alert him of his daughter’s kidnapping and demanded N4 million in ransom for her release.

“They called me with her phone number and demanded N4 million.” They let me talk with my daughter because when I asked how they wanted us to pay, she suggested we should call the AKTC,” the man stated.

“They have not called since then, and I have not spoken with my daughter.” I’m not sure if they’ve been released, but my daughter hasn’t called.”

According to the Gist House, the Zamfara State Police Command has stayed mum about the kidnapping.

However, a military source who desired anonymity confirmed the kidnapping, stating that a rescue team was currently combing the woodland to find the victims who had not been injured.
