A British engineer who works with well known app snapchat was found dead with his family and dog on a remote California hiking trail may have ‘been struck by lightning’.
Their suspicious deaths are now being examined over a possible lightning strike being the cause. Questions continues to surround what really happened
Jonathan Gerrish, 45, his wife, Ellen Chung, their one-year-old daughter, Muji and the family’s dog, Oski, were all found dead in the Sierra National Forest, California.
Autopsy results by investigators have proven the family were not killed by gases from a mine nearby or were killed by any kind of weapon.
Another investigation shows that family may have died after coming in contact with toxic algae after water samples collected from the nearby river tested positive.
Investigators are still waiting for the answers from the family’s toxicology reports so the theory can be ruled out.
Although, according to a New York Times article, their attention has been diverted to lighting strike as the cause.
Mariposa County Sheriff Jeremy Briese made a statement last week he said:
“We know the family and friends of John and Ellen are desperate for answers, our team of Detectives are working round the clock.“
“Cases like this require us to be methodical and thorough while also reaching out to every resource we can find to help us bring those answers to them as quickly as we can.”
