Niger State Governor Shows Mercy To 80 inmates In His State

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has shown mercy to 80 inmates in different prisons of the northern state. not only that he showed mercy but he also agreed to pay fines to assist the inmates to get back to their families.

The secretary to the state government shared A statement on Monday in Minna, Alhaji Abubakar Usman said that the motion was to mark the 2023 Democracy Day.

He went on to  throw more light, that the release of the prisoners were in line with the prerogative of mercy shown to the governor by the Constitution. Mercy was given to the inmates because of reasons like old age, ill health and good behaviour.

The secretary called on the inmates, to use the opportunity and take part in useful way of life and also try to stay away from what could lead them back to prison. Umaru asked them to be law abiding, to maintain peace and also support good governance.
