Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, says the FCT administration is still debating what to do with the yet-to-be-released N5 billion palliative.

When the federal government releases the fund, he said, the administration may consider purchasing vehicles to improve transit in the territory and offer food supplies for inhabitants.

Wike stated that his administration has begun attempts to reintroduce urban mass transportation plans in order to alleviate people’s suffering caused by the high expense of transportation.

The Minister addressed late Monday after a closed-door meeting with contractors overseeing a variety of projects throughout the FCT.

“We have yet to decide what to do with the $2 billion palliative,” he said.

“We haven’t decided on a location yet.” Are we going to focus on food? We believe that transportation, particularly urban mass transit, is really vital.

The Minister stated that he preferred transportation since it allows individuals to go where they want to go in search of work rather than giving them rice and then telling them they don’t have transportation to leave.

“So, we haven’t decided what we’re going to do with the money yet, but I believe food assistance and transportation are critical,” Wike added.
