On his 67th birthday, veteran Nigerian entertainer Harry B. Anyanwu praised Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama while filming the cross‑border movie A Journey to Africa in Ghana’s Western Region.
"Ghana, your president is the best in Africa. Mahama is the best in Africa. He’s doing what other presidents are supposed to do. Let them copy him," Anyanwu said.
The remarks came as fellow Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lil Win, surprised Anyanwu with stacks of US dollar bills and the cast and crew cheered.
Planned presidential visit
Lil Win disclosed that he had originally arranged a courtesy visit to the Jubilee House for the Nigerian actors to meet President Mahama, but filming commitments in Nzulezu forced the meeting to be postponed until the film’s official premiere in Accra.
A Journey to Africa features several prominent Nollywood actors, including Patience Ozokwor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Mike Ezuruonye and Zubby Michael.
No comment was received from the Ghanaian presidency regarding Anyanwu’s statements.
