FIFA World Cup: Despite England’s defeat, we are proud of you, says Peter Obi to the Falcons

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the next presidential election on February 25th, has professed his respect and support for the Super Falcons. The Nigerian women’s national football team has made history by reaching the last 16 of the highly anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup. Obi’s commendation for the team emphasizes their outstanding achievement in the ongoing tournament.

In an astonishing change of events, the Falcons were defeated by England in a penalty shootout in their knockout match on Monday. Despite the disappointment, it is worth remembering that Nigerians are extremely proud of their squad.

The former Anambra Governor has expressed his respect for the Nigerian Women’s Basketball team, known as D’Tigress, for their extraordinary feat in earning the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket championship for an unprecedented fourth consecutive time in a praiseworthy display of sportsmanship. He also praised Rena Wakama, who made history by becoming the first female coach to lead a team to victory in this important competition.

In a recent tweet, the individual expressed their intention to congratulate the female National Basketball team, known as D’Tigress, on their accomplishment. D’Tigress won the highly anticipated 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title, becoming Africa’s champion for the fourth time in a row.

Similarly, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate our acclaimed female football national team, known as the Super Falcons, on their victorious advancement to the group of 16 in the upcoming female World Cup event in Australia and New Zealand. The team demonstrated an outstanding degree of resilience and determination in today’s highly anticipated match against England. Regardless of the outcome, their gallant efforts have definitely made the country proud.
