Peace returns to Ebonyi NUJ as disgruntled VC expresses support for new Chairman

The Ebonyi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) is now experiencing a period of relative calm.

This came as a result of a proclamation of support for the newly elected Chairman of the Union, Nwafor Samson, made by an official of the union who had been wronged, Benjamin Nworie.

Nworie, who is the Vice Chairman of the union, had announced that he was the Acting Chairman of the state NUJ. He asserted that the bye-election that produced Nwafor as the substantive Chairman was invalid and had no effect. Nworie is the Vice Chairman of the union.

However, in a letter of congratulations, Nworie referred to Nwafor’s election as Chairman as a “victory for him.”
