We will concentrate and invest in the blue economy – Defense Minister Badaru

Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, the Minister of Defence, stated on Wednesday that the Federal Government was focused on investing in military equipment modernization to ensure the protection of people and foreigners.

In a statement published by Mrs Victoria Agba-Attah, Director, Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence, Badaru mentioned this in his goodwill message at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference, 2023.

“Crafting a Strategic Blueprint for Security and Prosperity” was the conference’s theme.

Badaru, who was represented by Dr Ibrahim Kana, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, stated that while investing in military equipment modernization, the Nigerian government would also focus on the blue economy, climate change, and unmanned spaces.

According to him, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria are in charge of ensuring peace and stability not only in the black and brown water but also deep down into the blue sea.

“Indeed, the government is redoubling its efforts by providing more platforms such as ‘Falcon Eye’ and the deep blue project,” he stated.

“The government has invested significant resources in these projects to address insecurity not only in the Niger Delta but throughout Nigeria’s coastal areas.”
