Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has engaged three companies operating in the cement, battery and renewable‑energy sectors to discuss measures aimed at strengthening local manufacturing, increasing the use of Ghanaian raw materials and creating jobs.
Cement sector discussions
In a meeting with CIMPOR Cement Africa Chief Executive Officer Yasin Tekinarslan, the minister examined tax‑relief options for the local production and use of calcined clay, a step intended to lower Ghana’s dependence on imported clinker.
Battery sector engagement
She also conferred with Huaguang New Energy Battery Ghana on workers’ welfare and quality standards, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting domestic manufacturing in the renewable‑energy field.
The proposals are under review by the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
