Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies clinched qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League on Thursday after defeating Nigeria’s Edo Queens in a replayed WAFU B qualifier final.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) nullified the result of the original final held in Burkina Faso, where the match ended 2‑2 after 90 minutes and Edo Queens won on penalties. Following an appeal by the Ghanaian side, CAF ordered a replay with extra time to decide the qualifier.
Replay outcome
Just two minutes into the replay, Ampem Darkoa took the lead from a corner, making the score 3‑2. Despite sustained pressure from Edo Queens, the Ghanaian champions held on for the remainder of the match and secured the victory.
The win guarantees Ampem Darkoa a place in the 2026 edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, marking their second appearance in the continental competition.
In the upcoming tournament, which kicks off on 1 November in Egypt, the Ghanaian side will join Morocco’s AS FAR, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Mali’s USFAS Bamako in Group C.
CAF’s decision to overturn the penalty shootout result and mandate a replay underscores the governing body’s commitment to procedural fairness in the qualification process.
