Ghana’s Amputee National Team held a training session on Thursday at Mensah Sarbah Park, University of Ghana, as the squad prepared for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
All 15 players named in the tournament roster attended, focusing on fitness and match readiness under head coach Richard Obeng.
Coach’s outlook
“Training has been good. The boys are on course, and we’re bringing them back into shape and to their peak.”
“We’re not going to have it easy from the group stage. Every game we play is a final.”
“That is how we’ve psyched our minds, from the technical team to the playing body. Every team we face is a final game for us, one we are supposed to win to make ourselves, our families, Ghanaians and the continent as a whole proud.”
Ghana has been drawn in Group D with Angola, Iraq and Colombia, a path the coach described as challenging. The team will travel to Turkey for a camping exercise before proceeding to Mexico for the tournament.
The preparation phase continues as the Black Challenge aims to represent Ghana and Africa at the World Cup.
