Tourism Minister commissions 12‑room guest lodge at GTEC to boost Ghana’s hospitality infrastructure.

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Abla Dzifa Gomashie commissioned a new 12‑room guest lodge on the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) campus in Accra.

The lodge is intended to provide accommodation and meeting spaces for GTEC stakeholders and the general public, supporting official engagements, conferences, workshops, retreats and other institutional activities.

Minister's statement

Ms Gomashie said the project aligned with the government’s broader objective of strengthening Ghana’s hospitality infrastructure and improving service standards to make the country a more competitive destination for domestic and international visitors. She noted that efforts to attract more visitors to Ghana must be matched by adequate accommodation and quality services capable of meeting their expectations. The minister also encouraged Ghanaians to embrace and promote their cultural identity through the patronage of locally made clothing and other cultural products.

GTEC Director‑General's comments

Professor Jinapor said the lodge would reduce the Commission’s reliance on commercially rented accommodation for faculty members. He described the project as an investment in staff welfare and institutional standards, adding that the facility was expected to serve as an example of the Commission’s commitment to improving its operations and supporting its stakeholders.
